With a childhood filled with Attenborough documentaries and holidays in wild and wonderful places, it was only natural that I ended up an ecologist. With majors in marine biology and zoology during undergraduate studies, I continued into honours and further research investigating temperate fish ecology on both natural and artificial reefs in Victoria. I then moved to central Australia for a couple of years to work as an environmental consultant. Missing both water and fish, I returned to University of Melbourne for my PhD project looking at extinction risk in the Kimberley region’s freshwater fishes and now enjoy the best of both terrestrial and aquatic worlds!
